Job Scope

The Managment Trainee is responsible for supporting the Resort Manager and Executive Assistant Manager in the overall coordination and supervision of key operational areas of the resort. The role ensures that all assigned departments and facilities operate efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the standards of The Cocoon Collection.


The position is responsible for maintaining exceptional guest experiences, ensuring the highest standards of island presentation, cleanliness, landscaping, recreational activities, contractor management, environmental sustainability, and team member engagement. The Managment Trainee will work closely with all Heads of Departments to ensure seamless coordination between departments and support the achievement of the resort’s operational and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

·      Assist the Resort Manager and Executive Assistant Manager in the daily operation of the resort.

·      Monitor operational performance and ensure all assigned departments meet company standards.

·      Conduct routine inspections across the resort to ensure quality, cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards are maintained.

·      Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and service delivery.

·      Support the implementation of resort strategies, projects, policies, and management directives.

·      Ensure effective communication and collaboration between all operational departments.

·      Anticipate operational challenges and proactively implement solutions.

·      Prepare operational reports and follow up on action plans as required.


Guest Experience

·      Ensure all guest-facing facilities and services are maintained to the highest standards.

·      Respond to guest concerns and coordinate prompt resolution of issues.

·      Monitor guest feedback and implement improvement initiatives.

·      Support the continuous enhancement of the guest experience throughout the resort.

·      Assist in the planning and execution of special events, celebrations, and guest engagement activities.

 

Health, Safety & Compliance

·      Promote a culture of health, safety, hygiene, and environmental awareness.

·      Ensure assigned departments comply with all company standards and legal requirements.

·      Participate in emergency preparedness exercises and compliance audits.

·      Monitor workplace safety practices and ensure corrective actions are implemented when required.

·      Ensure environmental and sustainability standards are consistently maintained.


OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Transport Operations

·      Oversee transport operations to ensure safe and efficient movement of guests, employees, luggage, and supplies.

·      Monitor vessel maintenance schedules and operational readiness.

·      Ensure transport equipment is maintained according to company standards.

·      Coordinate transportation requirements for resort operations and special events.

·      Review operational procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.


Recreation & Excursions

·      Oversee the daily operation of Recreation and Excursions.

·      Ensure all recreational activities and excursions are conducted safely and professionally.

·      Monitor guest satisfaction and service quality.

·      Support the development of new recreational activities and experiences.

·      Ensure all equipment and facilities are properly maintained.

·      Monitor excursion revenue opportunities and operational performance.


Kids Club

·      Ensure the Kids Club operates safely and effectively.

·      Monitor activity programs and ensure they meet guest expectations.

·      Ensure child safety standards and safeguarding procedures are fully implemented.

·      Review guest feedback and continuously improve children's activities.

·      Maintain cleanliness and operational standards within the facility.


Gym & Wellness Facilities

·      Oversee the operation and presentation of gym and wellness facilities.

·      Ensure fitness equipment is maintained and operational at all times.

·      Coordinate with Engineering regarding preventive maintenance requirements.

·      Monitor cleanliness and guest satisfaction within wellness facilities.

·      Support the promotion of wellness programs and activities.


Island Cleaning & Public Areas

·      Oversee island-wide cleanliness and presentation standards.

·      Conduct routine inspections of public areas, pathways, beaches, service areas, and staff facilities.

·      Ensure cleaning schedules are properly executed.

·      Coordinate corrective actions for identified deficiencies.

·      Maintain the overall appearance of the island at luxury resort standards.


Beach Cleaning & Shoreline Management

·      Ensure daily beach cleaning activities are carried out effectively.

·      Monitor beach conditions and guest-use areas.

·      Ensure beach furniture and facilities are maintained and presented appropriately.

·      Coordinate actions to address environmental concerns affecting beach areas.

·      Maintain the highest standards of beach cleanliness and presentation.


Lagoon Cleaning & Marine Environment

·      Oversee lagoon cleaning and maintenance activities.

·      Ensure lagoon areas remain clean, safe, and visually appealing.

·      Support marine conservation initiatives and environmental programs.

·      Coordinate regular cleaning schedules and environmental inspections.

·      Monitor lagoon conditions and recommend improvements where necessary.


Landscaping & Gardening

·      Oversee all landscaping and gardening activities throughout the resort.

·      Ensure gardens, green spaces, and public areas meet luxury resort standards.

·      Coordinate planting programs, beautification projects, and seasonal enhancements.

·      Monitor irrigation systems and landscape maintenance schedules.

·      Ensure landscaping contributes positively to the overall guest experience.


Staff Relations & Welfare

·      Promote positive employee relations throughout the resort.

·      Support Talent & Culture initiatives and employee engagement programs.

·      Monitor staff accommodation standards and employee welfare facilities.

·      Assist in addressing employee concerns and maintaining a positive working environment.

·      Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and professional conduct.


Local Island & Community Relations

·      Maintain positive relationships with local councils, community leaders, and government authorities.

·      Support community engagement and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

·      Assist in coordinating resort participation in local events and activities.

·      Report significant community matters to the Resort Manager and Executive Assistant Manager.

·      Promote positive relations between the resort and local stakeholders.


Third-Party Contractors & Suppliers

·      Act as the operational liaison between the resort and third-party contractors.

·      Monitor contractor performance, safety compliance, quality standards, and timelines.

·      Ensure all contractors comply with resort policies and environmental requirements.

·      Coordinate contractor activities to minimise disruption to guests and operations.

·      Conduct regular reviews and inspections of contractor work.

·      Maintain professional relationships with external suppliers and service providers.


Sustainability & Environmental Management

·      Support the implementation of sustainability and environmental initiatives.

·      Promote waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, and water-saving practices.

·      Participate in environmental audits and certification programs.

·      Support marine conservation and island preservation initiatives.

·      Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company sustainability goals.


Guest Activities & Island Experience Coordination

·      Coordinate resort-wide guest activities in collaboration with Recreation, F&B, Front Office, Housekeeping, and Guest Experience teams.

·      Support the planning and execution of special events, theme nights, celebrations, and seasonal activities.

·      Ensure activity venues and guest areas are maintained to the highest standards.

·      Monitor guest feedback relating to island experiences and recommend improvements.

·      Promote innovative guest experiences that enhance satisfaction and resort reputation.


LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members under your supervision.
  • Conduct regular departmental inspections and performance reviews.
