Job Scope

The Housekeeping Ladder Cleaner is an operational role dedicated to maintaining the safety, structural integrity, and cleanliness of the resort's sea ladders and surrounding aquatic access points. Given the unique overwater nature of the property, this position serves as a critical line of defense for guest safety and structural upkeep. The role involves performing high-frequency physical inspections, monitoring marine and weather conditions, and executing targeted cleaning schedules. The Ladder Cleaner collaborates closely with the floor supervisor and maintenance teams to ensure any structural damage is immediately mitigated, minimizing risk to guests and upholding the premium standards of Cocoon Maldives.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure all assigned operational areas are meticulously maintained according to resort housekeeping standards.
  • Strictly follow all specialized safety procedures when working in, on, or near the sea.
  • Execute routine cleaning and maintenance of the sea ladders according to the established schedule.
  • Proactively identify and report structural maintenance issues or damaged cleaning equipment to leadership.
  • Use all assigned industrial cleaning tools, chemicals, and safety equipment safely and responsibly.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Check in daily with the floor supervisor to identify specific rooms, villas, and overwater areas that require attention.
  • Assess marine conditions, tidal changes, and general sea safety levels before beginning any overwater operations.
  • Conduct physical inspections of all ladders to check for stability, rust, sharp edges, marine growth, or structural damage.
  • Report any discovered hazards, loose fixtures, or ladder damage to the floor supervisor or manager immediately.
  • Follow up on reported issues to confirm that the ladders have been fully repaired or securely refixed before clearing them for guest use.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Scheduled Maintenance & Task Completion

  • Complete all assigned ladder cleanings and area checkouts within the designated shift.
  • Target: 100% completion of scheduled daily and weekly ladder maintenance routines.

Cleaning Quality & Presentation

  • Ensure water line marks, algae, and marine build-up are effectively removed from structures.
  • Target: Achieve high quality inspection scores on all audited ladder and overwater areas.

Safety Protocol Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to maritime safety guidelines, life jacket rules, and buddy systems while working overwater.
  • Target: Zero safety procedure violations recorded during operational audits.

Incident & Risk Management

  • Maintain high situational awareness of marine risks and structural hazards.
  • Target: Maintain a record of zero preventable workplace accidents or safety incidents.

Ad-hoc Request Responsiveness

  • React quickly to urgent cleanings prompted by changing weather, rough seas, or specific requests.
  • Target: Meet target response times for all special cleaning and hazard-clearing requests.

Reliability & Professionalism

  • Maintain a consistent presence on the floor and arrive ready for shift briefings on time.
  • Target: Achieve excellent attendance and punctuality records monthly.

Stakeholder & Guest Satisfaction

  • Ensure the condition of the ladders meets the aesthetic and safety expectations of both management and visitors.
  • Target: Maintain high guest and management satisfaction levels regarding localized resort cleanliness standards.
