The Laundry Attendant is a foundational operational role responsible for processing the vital flow of fabrics across the resort, directly upholding the physical presentation standards of Cocoon Maldives. This position ensures the efficient sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and delivery of guest garments, staff uniforms, and all property linens. Operating within a high-capacity environment, the Laundry Attendant combines physical multi-tasking with strict technical diligence—meticulously monitoring washing formulas, safely handling laundry chemicals, and performing structural quality checks to eliminate stains and defects. By facilitating a continuous supply of pristine textiles, this role ensures backend efficiency and directly enhances the frontline luxury guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Sort, wash, dry, iron, fold, and distribute essential linens, uniforms, and premium guest laundry.
  • Adhere strictly to institutional laundry procedures and luxury quality standards.
  • Operate heavy industrial laundry equipment safely, responsibly, and efficiently.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and structurally hazard-free conditions across the laundry work area.
  • Handle all delicate garments and resort linens with immense care to prevent fraying, tearing, or structural damage.
  • Comply completely with mandated health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Assist supervisors in maintaining adequate and timely stock levels of various laundry supplies.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Systematically sort oncoming items according to fabric type, color codes, and specific washing cycle requirements.
  • Carefully load and unload commercial washing machines and heavy dryers.
  • Iron, press, fold, and safely package processed laundry items according to established presentation codes.
  • Perform routine physical inspections to check fabrics for stubborn stains, structural damage, or immediate repair needs.
  • Monitor equipment behavior and report malfunctions or technical faults to the Laundry Supervisor immediately.
  • Deliver clean linens and freshly pressed uniforms to designated resort departments efficiently.
  • Keep highly accurate, organized records of guest laundry processing when applicable.
  • Ensure the proper usage, dilution control, and safe storage of various detergents and industrial chemicals.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Processing Output & Speed

  • Process a steady volume of fabrics and garments during each active shift.
  • Target: Meet targeted volume thresholds for total laundry items processed per shift.

Turnaround Efficiency

  • Maintain clear operational timelines to prevent fabric backlog.
  • Target: Achieve agreed turnaround times for guest laundry and internal linen cycles.

Quality Pass Rate

  • Ensure linens are crisp, odor-free, and presented flawlessly.
  • Target: Maintain a high quality inspection pass rate on all prepared textiles.

Rewash Prevention

  • Apply correct sorting techniques and formula settings on the first wash.
  • Target: Achieve a minimal monthly rewash percentage.

Asset Minimization & Damage Control

  • Handle fabrics safely to limit structural wear or degradation.
  • Target: Maintain an exceptionally low linen damage and loss rate.

Safety & Hazard Compliance

  • Use equipment safeguards, protective gear, and chemical regulations strictly.
  • Target: 100% compliance with established workplace safety procedures.

Punctuality & Presence

  • Show up on time for team briefups and maintain consistency across shifts.
  • Target: Maintain an excellent monthly attendance and punctuality record.

Workplace Sanitization

  • Clean machinery filters, clear lint blocks, and scrub working floors daily.
  • Target: Zero non-compliance findings during random inspections of the laundry area.

Internal & Stakeholder Satisfaction

  • Cooperate productively with the floor runners, villa teams, and department heads.
  • Target: Achieve high customer and department satisfaction scores.
