Job Scope

The Laundry Manager is a leadership and management role responsible for directing, optimizing, and overseeing the complete daily operations of the resort’s commercial laundry facility. This position has direct accountability for protecting the resort's textile assets and maintaining five-star fabric presentation standards for all guest room linens, food and beverage table settings, and staff uniforms. The role requires strategic oversight of industrial machinery maintenance, chemical formula management, utility conservation (water, electricity), and strict compliance with global sanitization and safety laws. The Laundry Manager is tasked with controlling department costs, driving engineering safeguards to minimize equipment downtime, and mentoring a high-performance team to support seamless resort-wide operations at Cocoon Maldives.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Manage daily laundry operations to ensure an efficient, continuous, and unhindered workflow.
  • Supervise, mentor, and structurally train laundry supervisors, attendants, pressers, and linen clerks.
  • Maintain strict quality standards for cleaning, chemically treating, pressing, and handling all linens and garments.
  • Ensure comprehensive departmental compliance with international and local health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor and audit live inventories of linens, uniforms, chemical detergents, and processing supplies.
  • Prepare operationally balanced staff schedules and strategically allocate daily workloads based on resort occupancy.
  • Control departmental operating costs, maximize resource productivity, and actively minimize textile and chemical wastage.
  • Coordinate dynamically with other resort departments to fulfill specialized laundry, uniform, and timing requirements.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Physically inspect washed and pressed items daily to guarantee flawless cleanliness, crisp texture, and luxury quality.
  • Oversee the safe, technical operation and routine upkeep of all industrial laundry machinery and equipment.
  • Arrange timely repairs and strict preventive maintenance schedules for machines in coordination with the Engineering team.
  • Promptly investigate and professionally resolve any customer, guest, or inter-departmental laundry complaints.
  • Maintain highly accurate, updated laundry operational records, daily processing logs, and master inventory lists.
  • Implement and audit proper chemical handling, safe dilution control, and protective equipment storage procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze daily resource consumption, specifically tracking water, electricity, and industrial detergent usage.
  • Research and implement continuous process improvements to systematically increase throughput efficiency and lower operational costs.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Turnaround & Delivery Efficiency

  • Process and return guest garments and resort linens within established timelines.
  • Target: 100% timely fulfillment of guest laundry and daily linen cycles with zero operational backlogs.

Asset Protection & Damage Minimization

  • Monitor fabric wear patterns and optimize cycle formulas to extend textile lifespan.
  • Target: Maintain a fabric damage or loss rate below the strict monthly budget threshold.

Guest & Inter-departmental Satisfaction

  • Deliver reliable fabric care and maintain professional collaborative communication.
  • Target: Achieve high customer and department satisfaction ratings on internal audits.

Quality Assurance Pass Rate

  • Audit prepared textiles to ensure crisp presentation, cleanliness, and neutral odor.
  • Target: Achieve a high quality inspection pass rate on all audited linen and uniform batches.

Asset Upkeep & Downtime Prevention

  • Coordinate preventive servicing and execute machinery cleaning habits to extend equipment life.
  • Target: Maintain industrial equipment downtime below a minimal monthly percentage.

Inventory Control & Audit Precision

  • Conduct meticulous counts and track supply volumes to prevent sudden operational stockouts.
  • Target: Maintain high inventory tally accuracy across all monthly stock audits.

Cost Efficiency & Resource Management

  • Evaluate processing metrics against consumption to limit water, electricity, and chemical waste.
  • Target: Meet or improve upon the targeted processing cost per kilogram/load.

Staff Performance & Shift Reliability

  • Allocate balanced shift duties, evaluate individual contributions, and track punctuality patterns.
  • Target: Optimize team productivity metrics and maintain high attendance standards.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Enforce strict chemical handling, industrial safety safeguards, and protective uniform rules.
  • Target: Zero safety procedure violations or workplace health incidents recorded annually.

Rewash Minimization

  • Train staff on accurate stain sorting, pretreatment techniques, and formula selection.
  • Target: Maintain a record below the target rewash rate across all textile classes.
