Job Scope

The Bartender is responsible for serving food and beverages to guests and ensuring maximum guest satisfaction. Key expectations include:

  • Taking orders, recommending drinks, preparing and serving beverages, and providing friendly, professional, and efficient service at all times.
  • Representing both the Maldives and Cocoon Resort by creating a positive impression through excellent hospitality and service.
  • Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, Head Bartender, and other team members to ensure the smooth daily operation of the bar.
  • Coordinating with the kitchen and stewarding team to provide efficient service.
  • Carrying out all duties according to the policies, standards, and Standard Operating Procedures of Cocoon Resort, as well as Maldivian government regulations.


Key Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Compliance: Follow all resort policies, procedures, and guidelines. Follow all health, safety, and hygiene procedures. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Head or Management.
  • Professionalism: Maintain good personal grooming, hygiene, and proper uniform at all times. Carry out duties in a professional manner.
  • Punctuality & Organization: Be punctual and report to duty on time. Keep the work area organized and ready before service. Keep the bar clean, safe, and well-organized at all times.
  • Teamwork & Efficiency: Work well with team members to ensure smooth daily operations. Help reduce breakages, wastage, and stock losses.


Specific Operational Duties

  • Service & Setup: Present menus, recommend drinks, and take guest orders correctly. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to resort standards. Set up the bar before each service and make sure all items are ready. Assist in serving food and drinks in guest-preferred locations when required.
  • Guest Relations: Be polite, friendly, and helpful to guests at all times. Be flexible and willing to assist guests beyond normal duties when needed.
  • Product Knowledge & Sales: Have good knowledge of the menu, drinks, cocktails, and wine list to recommend and upsell items.
  • Bar Maintenance & Stock: Keep the bar clean, organized, and fully stocked at all times. Check stock levels and report shortages to the Head Bartender or Supervisor. Handle bar stock such as garnishes, mixers, glassware, and supplies properly. Store beverages and bar supplies safely and hygienically. Clean and maintain bar equipment regularly. Assist with monthly stock counts and inventory checks.
  • Operations & Billing: Handle guest bills and payments correctly when required. Work closely with the Food & Beverage team to ensure smooth guest service. Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor, Assistant Bar Manager, or Bar Manager.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Guest Satisfaction & Recognition

  • Target: Achieve a minimum of 3 positive guest reviews or mentions each month.

Grooming, Hygiene & Professional Appearance

  • Target: Report to duty in complete uniform with proper grooming and hygiene at all times.

Training, Attendance & Development

  • Target: Complete at least 4 hours of training each month and attend 90% of scheduled trainings and briefings.

Cost Control & Waste Reduction

  • Target: Help control operational costs by reducing waste, breakages, and misuse of materials.

Safety & Hygiene Compliance

  • Target: Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times, with a minimum compliance score of 85% or above. Keep all food safety and hygiene records updated and accurate at all times.
